As dated by BSB‑Ink, and Ohly–Sack (the Frankfurt am Main copy was bought on the Feast of the Circumcision [1 Jan.] 1475); Sheppard, following Victor Scholderer, ‘Adolf Rusch and the Earliest Roman Types', Library, 4th ser., 20 (1940), 43-50, at 49 (repr. in Victor Scholderer, Fifty Essays in Fifteenth- and Sixteenth-century Bibliography, ed. Dennis E. Rhodes (Amsterdam, 1966), 150-5, at 154), dates [before/not after 5 Jan. 1475]. Paul Needham prefers to see Johann Mentelin in association with Adolf Rusch as responsible for the work of the ‘R Printer': see The Estelle Doheny Collection, I (New York: Christie's, 22 Oct. 1987), lot 16, and Needham, Schøyen, lot 6.

Partial rubrication: some two- to five-line initials supplied in red. Running book numbers (many cropped) and irregular manuscript pagination: 1-427.
Provenance: Christopherus Strasburgensis(?) (fifteenth/sixteenth century); partially read inscription at the foot of [a1r]: ‘Christoph[ ] Str[a]s[burgensi]s(?)'.
