1. M-186(1) Copy Binding: Contemporary blind-tooled German quarter calf over wooden boards; clasp and catch lost. On both covers double fillets form a frame, within which is a roll, showing a hunting scene. Remains of three paper labels on the spine, the one at the head of the spine giving the title of the book. Title in black ink in a sixteenth-century hand at the head of the upper cover; an early parchment label, giving the title of the book in a sixteenth-century hand, probably once covered the ink title. Leather index tabs, some dyed red or black, others bleached white. Size: 212 × 140 × 48 mm. Size of leaf: 200 × 138 mm. Provenance: The sections of the front and rear pastedowns, which formerly contained early inscriptions, have been torn away. Tegernsee, Bavaria, Benedictines, S. Quirinus; inscription in a sixteenth-century(?) hand on a1r: ‘Monasterii Tegernsee'. Duplicate from the Royal Library, Munich; ‘Dpl' and ‘6403' in pencil on the front pastedown. Date of acquisition unknown; books with neighbouring shelfmarks were acquired during the 1880s. SHELFMARK: Auct. 7Q 7.25.
