A 16th-century note in French, partly crossed away, on leaf [pi1] recto is now concealed under a pasted paper slip. Armorial bookplate inscribed "Bibliothèque de St Philippe", with motto "Sans peur et sans reproche" on upper pastedown, possibly identifiable with the bookplate of Godefroy de Dampierre and his wife Marie-Noémie de Rigny (arms of Dampierre and Vigny accolées: (1) Argent, three lozenges sable 2 et 1; (2) Azur, one chevron or accompanied on chief by two stars argent and on point by a partridge or. Supporters by two lions rampant reguardant argent. Crest, out of a viscount coronet proper, a demi-lion issant argent).
