Binding: Contemporary German blind-tooled goatskin over wooden boards, with contemporary manuscript title and shelfmark, ‘25', on a rectangular parchment label at the head of the upper cover. Manuscript title on the spine, in a later hand. ‘846' in brown ink on a small rectangular paper label at tail of the spine. Two clasps and catches, centre-piece and corner-pieces lost. On the upper cover triple fillets form an intersecting double frame. Within the outer frame is a rosette stamp. Diagonal triple fillets divide the inner rectangle into lozenge-shaped and triangular compartments, decorated with a palmette stamp, a circular lamb and flag stamp, a floral stamp, and the rosette stamp, with a small floral stamp at the intersection of the fillets. On the lower cover, triple fillets form a frame. Size: 290 × 210 × 95 mm. Size of leaf: 285 × 187 mm. Occasional marginal notes, mainly extracting key words, and underlining in an early hand. Initials and paragraph marks are supplied in red; some underling and capital strokes in red. Provenance: Scheyern, Bavaria, Benedictines, BVM; inscription on Aa1r: ‘Monasterii Schyrensis Ordinis S. Benedicti'. Duplicate from the Royal Library, Munich; ‘Duplum' in brown ink on front pastedown.
