  1. N-126(1) First copy Wanting the blank leaf s4. Binding: Early eighteenth-century parchment, with title printed in gold on a rectangular red leather label at the head of the spine. Blue-edged leaves, marbled pastedowns, and green silk bookmark. ‘181?' in faded brown ink at tail of the spine. Watermark of front endleaf is three crescents (Heawood 866-74); seventeenth-century Venetian, but the hand that wrote the ‘Differentiae' beginning with ‘littera A' is not Italian. Size: 305 × 214 × 22 mm. Size of leaf: 302 × 201 mm. On s3v a marginal addition in an early sixteenth-century hand, ‘Differentiae: ‘Inter aluum et ventrem et uterum. Alius inferius receptaculum cibi est quo sordes . . .ut ait Salustius . . .' ‘12' in brown ink in upper right-hand corner of rear endleaf. Provenance: ‘£4. 4. 0' in pencil on the front endleaf. Purchased in Feb. 1951, from Day's, bookseller, Thame, Oxfordshire. SHELFMARK: Inc. c. I4.1490.1.

Binding: Gold-tooled calf, c.1800; sprinkled brown-edged leaves; the gold stamp of the Bodleian Library on both covers. ‘Arretini Commentariorum & C.' gold-tooled on the spine. Size: 310 × 217 × 55 mm. Size of leaf: 303 × 192 mm. A bookmark containing notes in Italian in an eighteenth-century hand and a very faded red stamp is inserted in the book. Provenance: Siena, Tuscany, Dominicans, S. Dominicus; inscription on A2r of item 1: ‘Est Conuentus Sancti Dominici de Senis 169'; with a book stamp on A2r of item 1 and on o6v of item 3.
