    2. Thomas Aquinas, Interpretatio in Metaphysicam Aristotelis. Venice: Simon Bevilaqua, for Alexander Calcedonius, 20 Dec. 1493 (T‑159). Owing to an error of imposition, the text of e1v and e8r has changed places. Binding: Sixteenth-century German (Tegernsee, 1501) blind-tooled half pigskin over wooden boards, with yellow-edged leaves; one clasp and catch lost. On both covers intersecting double fillets form a rectangle, which is divided by further double fillets into three compartments. On the upper cover the upper and lower compartments are each decorated with a single flower-petal stamp; on the lower cover the upper and lower compartments are each decorated with a (very worn) single circular rosette stamp; on both covers the central compartment is decorated with the flower-petal stamp, a second flower-petal stamp, and a small foliate stamp. A sixteenth-century manuscript title and printed shelfmark (`L.64.1') is affixed to the upper cover; there are paper manuscript labels on the spine, at the head (authors and titles of both items), and at the foot (details of imprints of both items); two paper labels bearing shelfmarks are in the middle of the spine, a printed one covered with another bearing the number ‘472' in black ink. A parchment index tab on a1 of item 2. Size: 327 × 221 × 63 mm. Size of leaf: 315 × 214 mm. The names of the authors and the titles of their works have been written on the title-page in the same hand as the ownership inscription for Tegernsee; a similar inscription dated 1500 appears on the title-page of item 2. On o4r and on q4v two six-line initial ‘C's, and on s1r a six-line initial ‘I', are all supplied in red, in place of woodcut initials. Provenance: Heinrich Küntzner (†1544), Abbot of Tegernsee. Tegernsee, Bavaria, Benedictines, S. Quirinus; inscription on the front pastedown: ‘Iste liber attinet venerabili monasterio S. Quirini in Tegernsee anno 1501 sub Hainrico [Kuntzner] abbate inligatur'. Another inscription in the same hand on a1r of item 2: ‘Anno domini 1500 emptus est liber presens per dominum Hainricum abbatem, et sunt 26 trierni uel dierni. | Attinet monasterio S. Quirini in Tegernsee'. Duplicate from the Royal Library, Munich; inscription on the front pastedown: ‘Duplum Bibliothecæ regiæ Monac[ensis]'.
