Binding: Contemporary English (Oxford, the 'Dragon Binder') blind-tooled calf over wooden boards, with yellow-edged leaves. Two clasps and catches lost. Formerly chained: staple-marks of a hasp at tail of upper cover. Triple fillets form an intersecting double frame. Diagonal triple fillets divide the inner rectangle into lozenge-shaped and triangular compartments, each decorated with a lozenge-shaped dragon stamp; see Oldham, Blind-stamped Bindings, pl. xv, no. 146; G. D. Hobson, English Binding before 1500, Sandars Lectures, Cambridge, 1927 (Cambridge, 1929), 24. The binding is listed by Graham Pollard in his notes on Oxford bindings, Bodleian Library, MS. Pollard 326, fol. 39 ('Bindery XVIII').

Fragments from two parchment manuscripts form pastedowns: the front pastedown is from a fourteenth-century(?) manuscript, the back one from a fifteenth-century manuscript.
‘1983' in brown ink in the lower margin of a1r.
Provenance: Acquired by 1738; see Fysher, Catalogus, II 275; copies also recorded in James, Catalogus (1605), 621 (P 2.15 [Art]) and in James, Catalogus (1620), 373 (P 2.7 [Art]), although these shelfmarks do not appear in P‑029.
