   1. Johannes Bartholomaeus Marlianus, Vrbus Romae topographia. (Rome: Valerio & Luigi Dorici, 1544). Wanting the blank leaf s8. Sheppard notes that de Tortis's device on s7v shows slight damage on the right-hand vertical, not visible in Nicolaus Perottus, Cornucopia (ed. Ludouicus Odaxius). Venice: Baptista de Tortis, 19 October, 1490 (P‑104). Binding: Seventeenth/eighteenth-century mottled calf, the gold-tooled spine bearing the arms of Tongerlo (or, three chevrons gules), and the motto 'Veritas vincit'. Sprinkled red- and green-edged leaves. Binding similar in style to that of J-190(1), Auct. 2Q inf. 2.12. Size: 303 × 216 × 46 mm. Size of leaf: 292 × 193 mm. In Divus Iulius and Divus Augustus sections are numbered in roman figures in a contemporary hand. Occasional marginal and interlinear notes in Streyters' hand, supplying synonyms and underlining, brackets, and extracting key words and phrases. On a3r a six-line initial 'A' is painted in blue with reserved white decoration, red pen-work and extensions in the inner margin. On m3v an initial 'E' is supplied in red with reserved white decoration. Elsewhere initials and paragraph marks supplied in red or blue. Provenance: Arnold Streyters (†1560), Abbot of Tongerlo; inscription on a1r: ‘Dominus Arnoldus dyest abbas tongerlensis'. Tongerlo, Belgium, Premonstratensians, S. Maria; see coat of arms; cancelled inscription on A1r of item 1, which appears to be for the house, also an unread heavily erased inscription above.
