The upper margins have been made good throughout.
Binding: Eighteenth-century red morocco; the gold stamp of the Bodleian Library on both covers; bound for the Library in London by Walther or Kalthoeber. Gilt-edged leaves; marbled pastedowns; pale green silk bookmark.
Size: 320 × 225 × 53 mm.
Size of leaf: 310 × 206 mm.
An early hand has supplied some interlinear and marginal annotations to Verg. A. 3, mainly synonyms, paraphrases, and longer comments on the text; leaf signatures, most cropped; and on [x8v], in a tiny hand, a list of references.
On [a2r] a six-line initial ‘T' is supplied in red with black pen-work decoration within the body of the letter. Elsewhere three- to seven-line initials are supplied in red. The text is enclosed within red rules.
